Comic Reflections: One Student’s Story on the Process of Writing a Literature Review

Editor’s note: This post was originally published on February 2, 2015, and is preserved online for historical/informational purposes. For update to date information about exhibits please visit our exhibitions page.

Currently on display in the Information Commons is the best comic from Dean Scheibel’s Fall 2014 “Introduction to Research in Communication Studies” course. Students were asked to reflect on their experience writing the required “literature review” for the course through a first-person “comic”. The visual narrative format allowed students to come to terms with their own experience of what was hard, easy, or confusing about the literature review process and express it in a creative way.  The featured comic in the exhibit is written and hand-illustrated by Seanna Duong and entitled “The Lit Review & Me.” The exhibit (curated by student worker Jacob Hassett) is located in the Information Commons (first floor, on a back wall across from the dictionary stand and near the photocopier/color printer).
