UPDATE 11/20/2017: We will continue to accept book donations until noon on November 27, 2017.
“A book is a device to ignite the imagination.” ― Alan Bennett, The Uncommon Reader.
Once again this year, we are partnering with the Children’s Institute, Inc. to collect books for Los Angeles children (infants to age 10) who may not have any books of their own. Our goal is to gather 1,000 books! We are looking for new or gently used books, both English and Spanish. Donations are being accepted now through November 20. Donation boxes are available in the library as well as at the LMU Children’s Center.
Donations will be distributed to families on December 9 at the Children’s Institute, Inc. Winter Wonderland event, benefiting some of Los Angeles’s most vulnerable children. Event activities include each child selecting a book of their very own, toy selection, arts and crafts, cookie decorating, story time, music and more. We have partnered with Children’s Institute, Inc. for the last two holiday seasons and are delighted to once again work toward this noble cause. Please consider donating a few books this holiday season to ignite the imagination of a child!
