We Stand in Solidarity with Our Undocumented Students

The Trump administration announced an executive order rescinding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) immigration policy established in 2012, a program that protected almost 800,000 undocumented children and young adults from unnecessary deportation. The staff of the William H. Hannon Library strongly oppose this decision and stand in solidarity with our undocumented students and their communities. Additionally, we support the statements issued by the American Library Association and LMU President Timothy Law Snyder.

We would like to reassure our students and other library users of a long-standing pillar of librarianship: the right to privacy. Accordingly, we do not maintain information regarding items checked out or accessed and we pledge to never share the private information of any library patrons, undocumented or otherwise. The William H. Hannon Library aims to be a space where everyone can feel welcomed. We join the wider LMU community in protecting all of its members to support the encouragement of learning, the education of the whole person, and the service of faith and the promotion of justice.Don't deport my students
