We are saddened to hear of the passing of former Los Angeles City Council member Bill Rosendahl, who served Loyola Marymount University and Council District 11 from 2005 to 2013. Bill was an award-winning producer, a role model for the LGBT community, a beloved journalist, and an advocate for the community surrounding LMU. Bill was also a friend to the Library and was even present at the ground-breaking ceremony of our new building in 2007.
The William H. Hannon Library houses the Bill Rosendahl-Adelphia Communications Corporation Collection of Public Affairs Television Programs, a collection of audio-visual material that documents the public affairs television programming of Century Communications Corporation and Adelphia Communications Corporation in the Los Angeles metropolitan area between 1987 and 2006. The collection contains video interviews and stories featuring prominent local and national figures, including Mayor Eric Garcetti, Former Chief of Police of the Los Angeles Police Department William Bratton, former President Bill Clinton, former Congresswoman Jane Harman, and former member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Gloria Molina. In 2013, we began digitizing parts of that collection through a grant from The Riordan Foundation.
This collection stands as a monument to the impact Bill had on Los Angeles politics, history, and culture. We wish Bill’s family and friends healing during this time.
