Swank Digital Campus: 2018 Titles

Imagine sitting in your house, cozy on the couch, watching a film. Maybe it’s a classic Hollywood film. Maybe it’s a foreign language film or a light, romantic comedy. Maybe you’re in the mood for a gritty detective story or spooky horror film.

Welcome to Swank Digital Campus: the library’s newest streaming video database. This 200-film collection provides digital access to course-related feature-length films, including documentaries, dramas, comedies, thrillers, mysteries, and more. swank films covers

Pulp Fiction. This film follows two hitmen who are out to retrieve a stolen suitcase. Exciting, right? Imagine wearing a tailored black suit, having a glorious haircut, and smoking a cigarette as a day job.

The Dark Knight. Batman, played by Christian Bale, must stop the Joker from wreaking havoc upon Gotham. Given all the fires, car chasing, and buildings being destroyed, the budget in this film must’ve been extensively high! It’s fun to feel the sense of adrenaline when we experience the radiating energy from these types of films.

Bonnie and Clyde. What about a film about two people falling in love and being villains together? Well, this film fits the profile. It follows a man and a woman who’s petty crimes spiral out of control. One of the things that stands out to me in this film is the costume design. The characters look elegant and fashionable… while being bank robbers all the while. It’s good a good movie to watch if you’re feeling mischievous.

The Godfather is another film to check off your list. It’s a film about the ultimate gangster (played by Marlon Brando, of course!) who is ultimately trying to give his clandestine empire to his son (played by a young Al Pacino). You’ll feel as if you’re part of this crazy Italian family. It’s great to see an actor that gets genuinely into his character.

Scarface. This film follows a Cuban immigrant who takes over the Miami drug cartel and goes a tad bit crazy with power and greed. The famous line, “Say hello to my little friend,” has been used in so many other tv shows and movies it almost feels like you’ve already seen the film.

So why not invite your friends over, get some food, and go to Swank! You won’t regret it.
