This Fall, help us share the magic of reading with the children of Los Angeles.
For a child, a book can be something akin to magic: books can take them anywhere, teach them new things, and become their most dependable friends. Unfortunately, some children in Los Angeles do not have even a single book to call their own.
Between October 15 – November 15, we are collecting new and gently used books for children ages 0-12. Our goal is to collect 1000 books for 1000 children. Want to help us out? Here’s how:
- Bring books to one of our collection points: either the William H. Hannon library lobby or the LMU Children’s Center (you’ll see a collection box near the front desk)
- Donate any amount via check addressed to “William H. Hannon Library” (memo line: 2018 Holiday Book Drive) and deliver to Library Administration on level 3 of the library.
- If you want to donate via credit card, go to our giving page, select “Other” under “Designations” and put “2018 Holiday Book Drive” in the “Additional Gift Instructions” box.
The books will be given to children at the Children’s Institute Inc. Holiday Party in December. The Children’s Institute (CII) has been supporting the needs of children and families in Los Angeles who are survivors of violence for over 110 years. This is the fourth year of our partnership with CII.
Help us bring the magic of reading to Los Angeles children this holiday season!
