Milk and Cookies 2017: What You Missed

students in library getting cookies

The library foyer was buzzing with noise as a result of Milk and Cookies. Before the event had even begun, as students of LMU walked past the long tables of cookies, many had stopped to inquire about the display only to be very disappointed when they were told the event would start in 30 minutes.

The popular library event is hosted every fall semester by the library in which staff members bake homemade cookies for students. The treats are meant to serve as a little motivation for the upcoming finals week.

The event started at 9 p.m. and by 8:50 p.m., a line had wrapped around the library’s lobby and down the hall. Even 10 minutes after it had begun, the line was stayed the same length and didn’t slow down until the very end.

Aaliyah Wilson, a junior marketing major, remarked that she hadn’t even known the event was today, but had overheard a student next to her gushing about the cookies. Next thing she knew, Wilson was in the line and on the hunt for oatmeal, peanut butter, chocolate chip cookies.

As I talked to multiple people in line, it seemed as if a couple students had gravitated to the area as a result of the noise.

To many students, the event was a blessing. “I saw a poster on a bulletin board and knew I was going to die later tonight if I didn’t go,” said junior accounting and marketing major Daniella Rojas. Rojas’s favorite dessert at the event were the white macadamia cookies.

Once Wilson had her cookies, she couldn’t stop raving about how delicious the treats were before saying that she couldn’t wait till finals next semester.

By 9:20, only a few dozen cookies remained and by end of the event, more than 1,000 cookies had been eaten by the students. So in essence, the event was more than a success.
