With the start of the new year, the LMU Library Outreach team thought it would be useful to ask our more experienced student employees to share their thoughts on the most important information that new students should know about the William H. Hannon Library. Yiwen Liu, our International Student Library Ambassador, suggests the following:
1. Group Study Rooms!
We can book a study room for ourselves or for a group of friends. How?
- Go to MyLMU
- Open the link for “System Logins”
- Select “Library: Group Study Room Reservations”
- Go to the library homepage
- Select the blue button that says “Study Rooms”
- Select “Book a Study Room”
2. Download Software!
Including Microsoft Office and many more. For free with help from the Tech On 2 desk (on the 2nd floor). If you need help, use the following steps:
- Go to the ITS webpage
- Click on “Computing & Software”
- Click on “Personal Software for Students”
When you try to download the software you want, there will be easy instructions you can follow.
3. Laptop Borrowing!
At the Tech On 2 desk, students can also borrow a MacBook laptop. Do you prefer a PC laptop? Don’t worry: these laptops (and all of the library’s desktop computers) are set up to be used either as a Mac or PC. These laptops come in handy if you forget your laptop at home or if you just don’t feel like bringing your laptop to school =) .
Thank you, Yiwen, for your thoughtful suggestions. We’re looking forward to seeing our Lion family return to campus next week!
