William H. Hannon Library Welcomes TLC

The library is one of the first organizations to welcome students to campus because we love talking about our community’s resources. The staff of the William H. Hannon Library hosts tours, Faculty Pub Nights, and other memorable events to shine a light on the LMU community. In that vein, the Learning Community (TLC) at LMU joined us for a library treasure hunt on August 8, 2017.

The Learning Community is an annual program dedicated to connecting first year African American students to campus culture, resources, and academic success. Thirty-five students participated in the treasure hunt with stops and clues planted all over the library building. Clues highlighted some of the library’s collections, like the upcoming Archives and Special Collections exhibition “Tales of Mystery and Imagination” (open now!). Additionally, TLC’s teams of four discovered how to to print in the library, how to find a book in the stacks, and how to use group study rooms. All of these resources are available to students, faculty, and staff here at LMU. All you need is your Onecard. We highly recommend using group study rooms for a quiet space and group collaboration. You can book group study rooms online via LMU Agilquest but hurry because they go fast!

One of the library’s most hidden treasures is its helpful staff. TLC teams engaged with library staff by asking questions at the Level 1 Information Desk as well as checking out materials at the Circulation Desk. At the end of the hunt, one team rose above the rest but all participants learned the ways in which our library supports the LMU community. We hope that you too will take time to discover treasure in the library come Fall!
