E-Resource: PhilPapers and the Philosophy Documentation Center

PhilPapers [MyLMU login required] is an index and bibliography of philosophy maintained by the Philosophy Documentation Center. In addition, all journals published via the Philosophy Documentation Center [MyLMU login required] are now available to LMU users. PhilPapers’ indexed material is fully searchable and can also be browsed by publication or subject category. There are over 5000 categories organized in a (partly) hierarchical graph and maintained by about 700 volunteer academic editors who are specialists in the relevant topics. The materials include journals, books, open access archives, and personal pages maintained by academics.

Users can browse by topic or journal title and search by author (for example, check out LMU Doshi Professor of Indic and Comparative Theology Christopher Chapple’s indexed works). Users can also create bibliographic lists, participate in discussion forums, and follow individual authors to be notified of new citations. Authors whose works are indexed by PhilPapers can also see how often their works have been downloaded.

Both resources are ideal for scholars seeking scholarly material in philosophy. Note: These resources are not accessible in our OneSearch+.
