On Thursday, February 16, 2017, the Department of Public Safety, in coordination with the Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments, will be conducting a demonstration on active shooter response. The demonstration will begin in the 1st floor of the William H. Hannon Library at 10:00 a.m. and will conclude on the grass on Lawton Plaza by 11:00 a.m. The goal of the demonstration, which is part of LMU’s Active Shooter Preparedness Month activities, is to showcase how LAPD responds to an active shooter call in addition to LAFD’s tactics in responding to a mass patient/mass casualty incident.
In support of the demonstration, there will be significant police and fire presence on campus on the morning of the 16th. In the event of an emergency during the demonstration time, please call 9-1-1 and Public Safety as usual, and be sure to inform both dispatchers that it is a “real emergency.” If you have any questions or concerns, contact Frank Zaccaria or Simran Sandhu in the Department of Public Safety.
