Review of “How Jews and Christians Interpret Their Sacred Texts: A Study in Transvaluation”

Reference & Instruction Librarian for Theology Desirae Zingarelli-Sweet recently published a review of Charles David Isbell’s How Jews and Christians Interpret Their Sacred Texts: A Study in Transvaluation (Resource Publications, 2014), which she describes as “an introductory, comparative textual analysis of Jewish and Christian interpretations of the Hebrew Bible in the first centuries of the Common Era” and “an accessible exploration of early Jewish and Christian scriptural hermeneutics that will best serve seminary and rabbinical students as well as lay groups interested in interfaith dialogue.”

The review is published in the most recent issue of the Journal of Religious & Theological Information (15.1-2). LMU students, faculty, and staff can can access the journal through Taylor & Francis Online [direct link].
