LMU Librarian Receives National Award – Congrats, Marie!

We’re so proud of our Serials and E-resources Librarian Marie Kennedy, who is the 2014 recipient of the American Library Association / Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) Collection Management Section (CMS) Ingram Coutts Award for Innovation in Electronic Resources Management.

The Ingram Coutts Award recognizes significant and innovative contributions to electronic collections management and development practice. The recipient receives a $2,000 award generously donated by Coutts Information Services a division of Ingram and a citation.

Kennedy excels as a leader in innovation by increasing visibility, discovery and user access to electronic library resources. Her work in marketing e-resources has led to grants, publications and numerous presentations. In particular, her role as the principal investigator of the Collaborative Marketing for Electronic Resources project involved working with more than 100 participants representing 32 academic institutions of various size and mission. She trained librarians to create a marketing plan for electronic resources in their libraries, as well as gathered data to determine if a “best practice” emerged as a result of the open collaboration. This work led to peer-reviewed articles published in the journals Library Management and Collaborative Librarianship, and the book, Marketing Your Library’s Electronic Resources, published by the American Library Association.

In addition to her scholarship on marketing, Kennedy has published 10 articles and given 19 presentations. She serves on 10 professional committees and groups, including the COUNTER Executive Committee and the NISO SUSHI Standing Committee. Moreover, recently she and Dean Kristine Brancolini were awarded an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program Grant to establish an Institute for Research Design in Librarianship, which will take place at LMU this summer.

Congratulations, Marie! (Yay, indeed!)
